Manhasset, N.Y. — Convinced that Wi-Fi is too costly and that existing ultrawideband offerings are a long way from meeting the needs of consumer equipment vendors, Artimi Inc. has announced a UWB chip that it believes solves the dilemma. The company has combined an 800-Mbit/second physical layer based on pulse-position modulation (PPM) with IEEE 802.15 media-access control, promising full-home coverage using both wireless and power line media.
